NICHOLAS M. RAYNOLDS

Nicholas M. Raynolds was born on December 25, 1967 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. As a child he gained his first inspiration to become a painter from his Grandfather who was visiting from Germany. It was under this influence that he acquired the fundamentals of seeing and drawing.   Raynolds began his formal studies in art at the age of 15 at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada where he later received his BFA. He continued his studies in Düsseldorf, Germany and at
the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In pursuit of the mastery of his craft, he attended the Academy of Realist Art in Seattle. There he studied with Tony Ryder and Michael Grimaldi. In January of 2001 Raynolds moved to New York City to study with Jacob Collins at the Water Street Atelier and at Studio 126 with Michael Grimaldi.   Raynolds is represented by the John Pence Gallery in San Francisco, where he was the “Introductions” artist in July 2005. He has exhibited nationally and abroad. His work can be found in numerous collections, most notably, The Forbes Collection, NY.   Raynolds has traveled extensively throughout North America and Europe and to Mexico and the Middle East, often working as a scenic, decorative and fine art painter. He assisted in the decoration of the palace and residence of His Highness Sheik Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, UAE and as an assistant painter to Jeff Koons in New York City.

Raynolds lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife and three cats.
